Phil De Fries Wiki

Phil De Fries is a grappler at heart, he won 8 of his 9 career wins by way of submission. His UFC debut against Rob Broughton was the only time where he wasn’t able to finish his opponent with a submission. He still won a close decision against his fellow countryman and moved on to fight Stipe Miocic. The fight didn’t last very long and De Fries lost via TKO in the first round. He bounced back with a submission win in his third outing in the UFC against Oli Thompson.

De Fries welcomed Todd Duffee back to the promotion at UFC 155. Although De Fries was able to secure a takedown, he was knocked out in the first round. That loss was followed up with an even quicker loss to Matt Mitrione by TKO in 19 seconds. Following the loss it as announced that De Fries had been cut from the promotion.
